made from hand loomed and woven panels from Guatemala c. 1960s. the cotton yarns are yarn dyed with indigo of different shades. lighter indigo yarns are woven in horizontal ticking stripes. the textile is soft, yet dense with a comfortable drape. it will break in beautifully over time.
since the panels were woven on narrow looms, they have been attached together using hand embroidery in multicolor cotton floss. I decided to use contrast stitching in white to accentuate the seams and details of the jacket. the textile is dense, but not heavy—think your favorite worn in pair of jeans.
