cut from a 1930s hand-tufted chenille coverlet. I decided on a sweetheart neckline, adjustable straps, and an oversized sweeping shape that hangs away from the body. the chenille is somewhat dense due to the intricate riding, but light and drape in nature. it's somewhere between a dress and an heirloom.
this dress is inspired and designed around an oversized children’s dress that I wore on my senior beach trip in high school. everyone affectionately called it the Wendy dress because of its childish carefree nature and the billowing shape it took in the wind.
